The main introduction of artichoke leaf extract powder

May 07, 2021

Artichoke, also known as artichoke and chrysanthemum thistle, is a perennial herb of the Asteraceae family. It is named "French Lily" because its buds resemble lilies. China was introduced from France in the 19th century and planted in the French Concession of Shanghai. It has a history of more than 100 years of cultivation. Artichoke got its name because the Japanese passed through artichoke when it was introduced from China, so it was mistakenly called artichoke. This name is still in use today. In fact, the origin of artichoke is on the Mediterranean coast of Europe. It has been used as a court dish as early as ancient Rome and ancient Greece, and it was enjoyed by dignitaries. The main producing areas are Italy, Spain, France, Argentina, and the United States.

China has a small amount of cultivation mainly in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Hunan, Yunnan and other places. The consumption and import of artichoke in developed countries such as the United States and Western Europe continue to increase, and canned products are in short supply in the international market. In order to meet the needs of the international market, Taiwan Province of China has a large area of cultivation, and the products are exported to earn foreign exchange. Artichokes are fed by flower buds, and the petioles can be cooked after being softened and cultivated.

The edible part of the artichoke flower bulb contains a variety of nutrients, with high protein, calcium and phosphorus content, and also contains more inulin (higher content in the root). Functional compounds such as cynic acid and chlorogenic acid, such as polyphenols and flavonoids, are not only present in the flower bulbs, but also higher in the leaves.
